Great product for MOST skin types
Purchased the Cloud at REI for MN spring and fall chilly/rainy weather. Love that has coverage both on top and underneath. We use it mostly for short/medium walks/runs/hikes. If your dog doesn't have much hair or is prone to chafing, I would probably only use the Cloud for light activity or shorter excursions since the fabric could start to cause discomfort for some breeds. For longer treks, use a long sleeve fleece alone, or put one underneath the Cloud. Like other reviewers, I would love additional color choices. I bought the green and it's pretty much like camouflage in the woods, which is not ideal. My Spitz mix can use it in the winter, but my Bichon mix gets too cold so we switch too a heavy fleece for her during that time of year. The jacket is good quality and the zipper is great. I would definitely recommend the Cloud Chaser for many breeds but, again, not for those with certain hair types or sensitive skin.
great all around coat
I wish I could say Goose loves putting his jacket on, but he definitely appreciates it when it is on! (the side zip helps wrangle him into it too) I thought the top would act more like a raincoat, but the stretchy underside is excellent. I never realized how wet his tummy gets and how much heat escapes there until wearing the Cloud Chaser. Yay for a dry and warm dog! Goose weighs just under 30lbs and the small is snug but fits well. I got the forest green, but would really like a color with better visibility.
Sleeves rubbed skin raw
I had bought the Climate Changer a few years ago and had this same issue, but was hoping the soft-shell, stretchy material would be different: after a full day on the mountain the edges of the sleeves had rubbed the skin on my baby's legs raw. I double-checked the sizing, and it's the correct size according to Mani's measurements. Maybe her skin is just super sensitive. Or maybe this jacket is just not made for all-day athletic use. I'm not sure. But she won't be wearing it again, unfortunately, and I won't be purchasing any other sleeved jackets for her.
Terrific adventure coat and thunder jacket
The design of this coat is terrific -- it doubles as thunder jacket for my anxiety prone dog in addition to being her favorite outdoor adventure coat. The zipper closer is so much more durable then velcro etc - took a little practice but it's so easy to get on and off. The flexible fabric especially on the chest makes for a great 'muscle shirt' with nothing to get stuck on when we are on single track trails. Also stopped chafing issues with the harness. Would love to see a thunder jacket that has a zipper -- in the meantime this is perfect!
Jacket is great for muddy cold truffle hunting days in the one. We have the older model that came in red. I'd love another and will soon get one for my new pup who is also a future Truffle dog. Pet peeve: Colors!!! How about a good working dog color like ORANGE that will show up in the dark one woods?
