The Ruffwear Polar Trex dog boots are designed for warmth, traction, and protection in winter conditions. Insulated upper softshell fabric creates breathable, weatherproof warmth in extreme cold and inclement weather. Ruffwear-designed Vibram® outsole provides optimum traction on frozen surfaces.

Closure system combines hook-and-loop with hardware, cinching around the narrowest part of the dog’s leg to provide a secure fit. Pullover stretch gaiter keeps snow out and improves retention by protecting the hook-and-loop ankle closure from the elements.

Just as you would with your gear, adjust fit and check tension of boots 15 minutes into your activity and throughout the adventure as needed.

Returned them

I could tell they were good quality and stayed on decently well for my skinny-legged Australian shepherd. I had her run around in 10 inches of snow for a few minutes and they all stayed on. I was excited about this, but when I took them off her, all four of her boots/paws had a bunch of snow in them :( That basically defeats the purpose of having a boot to protect her paws from snow, so sadly I had to return them. We probably need a taller boot with an upper velcrow leg strap as well.

They love their boot

My dogs love them took about ten minutes for them to adjust to having them on

Keeping up with the pooch

After a little issue keeping the shoes on we were able to figure out the best way to do it. Once in awhile one slips off, but it's a rarity. Best thing is, it protects our pooches (we bought them for both of ours) from the elements, and helps them stay active on our walks. Yay!

Winter Boot...maybe not

We were very excited about these boots, as they have great reviews! Our dog has issues with moisture. I believe these were considered water resistant and meant for the snow. Our experience does not meet that expectation. Water gets through these shoes very quickly. The other downside, and I haven’t quite figured out why this happens, the right front boot, no matter which boot we put on him (we have all the same size) will always fall off. We check his boots regularly when we take him out for a walk and I would say on a 20-30 minute walk they have to be adjusted 2-3 times. And if he chooses to go on a sprint, I will for sure have to fix the boots after each sprint. They are not meeting our exact needs for our dog unfortunately, but we continue to use them as they do help and Ruffwear makes high end quality products.

Great boot, meh fit

The shoes came off my pup very easily, despite tightening them very tightly. I had concern at cutting off her circulation and couldn't keep them on her long enough to see how they worked. I think these would have been perfect for snowshoeing with her too, so bummed out that I have to continue looking.
