Ruffwear's apparel features an active, tailored fit that hugs close to your dog's body, designed to move with their natural range of motion. Measurement is determined by your dog’s chest girth, measured around the widest part of the rib cage. Coverage may fit slightly shorter or longer depending on your dog’s proportions. If between sizes, size up for a more relaxed fit, or down for a more snug fit.

The Overcoat Fuse distills years of designing harnesses and apparel into a single jacket-harness combo, giving dogs who typically layer gear a seamless solution for getting outside in cool weather and light precipitation. Simply slip on, clip in, and go with this rugged workhorse of a jacket that has a water-repellent coating to shed light moisture and a fleece lining for added coziness.

The integrated harness means you can leash up confidently at two leash attachment points: one on the back and one at the chest - great for redirecting dogs that pull on-leash. Stash pick-up bags or small essentials in the two zippered pockets, and you've got a coat that's ready to go whenever you and your dog are.

While each style of Ruffwear apparel is designed for its intended use, this guide generalizes our fits in three ways. The Overcoat Fuse is a Relaxed Fit with vest coverage and side-release buckles for easy on/off.

    Medium for doberman female

    This is our best go to coat for everything! War, police, inner lining and water resistant tough outer coat that protects from briars and thistles when running the fields and woods. When it gets too cold out, I do need to layer with another fleece underneath this coat.. I have both the medium and the large, medium currently fits my seven month old Doberman perfectly. But just in case she outgrows it, I got the large as well. The large dangles under her chest and is too loose even at its tightest at this time. Once her chest drops it should fit After she fully matures into adulthood.

    Medium for petite female doberman

    I have a 7 month doberman puppy in 50 lb range who will be 65-70 lbs full grown if she’s like her mom. I have this coat in both medium (perfect fit now) and large incase she outgrows medium size. I love the fleece lining and tough outer shell protects her from all the briars and brambles that cut her skin without it on. This is my favorite all around jacket for Alabama fall and winter however she’s too cold end of November into wintertime with this by itself without a extra under layer fleece or she starts shaking pretty badly from the cold.

    Perfection, with a caveat

    Don’t hesitate! This is the one! (but If you live in the western states read til the end) We searched for the right harness for our dog for ages and finally found the Front Range harness for our rocket ship/ staffie mix. It is the only one that doesn’t rub her raw when she is pulling me over hill and dale. (She is a rescue and thinks we are skijoring). She needs a coat in the winter and I knew this would be fit and be awesome because it’s Ruffwear. It is! Finally a coat and harness combo that is secure, comfortable, warm and easy to put on. I am so thrilled with it. The caveat, however, is that the lovely warm fleece lining absolutely fills with foxtails, especially the chest area. I have sewn ripstop nylon over the chest section, which helps, but not everyone will want to do that. I hope Ruffwear will work on that in future years. Otherwise A+!!
