Load up Harness - one improvement needed
We were able to fit the harness after watching the Ruffwear video, and it fits our dog well. I only wish it had a leash hook so when we need to get out of the car for a walk or for a brief stay when the harness could be left on, a leash could be hooked to it. Well constructed and up to the standards I've come to expect from Ruffwear products.
It fits the large breeds!
Love the way it fastened to the seat belt. Great product!
It was between this and the Sleepypod harness. The only two on the market that have been legitimately designed and tested for automobile use. The Load Up is so easy to use and adjust and the construction is superb. I really like passing the seatbelt through the loop on the backside of the harness, doesn't get any easier than this. Keep your pooch safe in the car with this quality harness.
This is a fabulous harness -- easy adjustments and nicely padded for a comfortable fit. Highly recommend.
Great design and perfect quality
The harness fits perfectly en feels very reliable. It would have been even more perfect if there was a kind of loop on the back to lift the dog in and out of the van, as it is too high for her to jump in and out. Even in a normal car which has a lower entrance it would be safer if I could just lift her out of the car with just one hand in case of an accident, emergency-stop or busy parking place. The webmaster harness does have that facility, but we found out the dog slid off of the bench backwards in that harness when I had to hit the brakes. The Load Up holds her perfectly in place (we did some brake-testing...), but I always have to use both hands now to get her in and out of the car safely. I'm working on some additional webbing to put on the harness, without alterning the safety-system, but it would be really nice if Ruffwear would make a built-in lifting facility into the next generation Load Up Harness. Besides that, I really thought I had to adjust the harness just once, and then only had to use the buckles. But it seems the adjustments loosens itself each time I get my dog in or out of the harness, so I have to re-adjust it every time again. Including using the velcro fasteners on the webbing. My dog really hates the sound of velcro torn apart, so both my dog and I are not so keen on the fact that it needs readjusting every time again. I quess I will be doing some alterations on that as well, just to keep the webbing in the place where I put it when it fits well. I do rely on the buckles and fasteners to hold the webbing in place in case of an accident, as it only seems to loosen itself when there is no tension on the webbing.
