Ruffwear's apparel features an active, tailored fit that hugs close to your dog's body, designed to move with their natural range of motion. Measurement is determined by your dog’s chest girth, measured around the widest part of the rib cage. Coverage may fit slightly shorter or longer depending on your dog’s proportions. If between sizes, size up for a more relaxed fit, or down for a more snug fit.

Strategic material choices and design offer solutions for the challenges that hot-weather exploring presents. The light-colored fabric reflects solar radiation, while wetting the vest activates our Swamp Cooler™ Tech for that refreshing, just-stepped-out-of-a-lake feeling also known as evaporative cooling. Just give it a soak, put it on your dog, and go. When it dries, re-soak it to recharge it.

The Swamp Cooler™ Vest includes side-release buckles for easy on/off and a leash portal so it can be worn over a harness – topping off the essential features to make it our highest-coverage cooling option in the Swamp Cooler™ Collection.     Works Great

    Used your Swamp Cooler for my dog on a hunting trip. The thing worked great. She loved it and I loved it.

    Previously, having only one fur coat, the heat was just too much for her. With the Swamp Cooler she was able to hunt all day without any problems. It worked great. It only took an hour, in the heat, for it to dry out but even dry it still protected her from the hot sun beating on her. I would dunk it in cold water about every hour for premium protection.

    The only issue I have is with the clasps. They are too small and do not appear to be of durable quality. They look and feel like they could break easily. She has a service dog vest with beautiful thick/large clasps that work great. I felt like the clasp could easily break and ruin my hunting trip. With a thicker clasp, I would not have this worry.

    Why not put a better/larger clasp that is easier to use?

    Cool, calm and collected

    Soleil, our golden, immediately stopped panting after we placed her cooling vest on. She got relaxed and just rested. It was magic. She loves her vest and it’s a wonderful resource. Thanks, Ruffwear. Her veterinarian had recommended a cooling vest to assist with her thick coat.

    Great on hot days

    I bought this best for my dark colored German shepherd guide dog and it’s been great! It gets hot where we live and wearing the vest kept him from overheating on a long walk. Easy to use and well made!

    Helps my dog stay cool on hot humid days in Minnesota.

    My dog is an all black shepherd/lab/husky mix. While she loves the frigid winters of Minnesota, she slows way down in the summers when it is hot and humid. I noticed that she didn’t want to walk more than 20 minutes before she started showing signs of discomfort.

    I tried the swamp cooler vest today when we walked at 81 degrees and she stayed energetic and comfortable for the entire walk. Her recovery time was also much shorter once we got back inside.

    I should have gotten this way sooner! I highly recommend this for anybody with a dog who doesn’t tolerate heat very well.

    Perfect for my hot natured doodle!

    This vest has been great so far. We were searching for ways to cool off our dog during this terrible heat wave and this has been a lifesaver. Size medium was perfect for my 65 lb doodle.
