Strategic material choices and design offer solutions for the challenges that hot-weather exploring presents. The light-colored fabric reflects solar radiation, while wetting the vest activates our Swamp Cooler™ Tech for that refreshing, just-stepped-out-of-a-lake feeling also known as evaporative cooling. Just give it a soak, put it on your dog, and go. When it dries, re-soak it to recharge it.

The Swamp Cooler™ Vest includes side-release buckles for easy on/off and a leash portal so it can be worn over a harness – topping off the essential features to make it our highest-coverage cooling option in the Swamp Cooler™ Collection.     Life saver for dogs that run hot

    I got this vest hoping it would keep my german shorthair Casey a little cooler on our horseback rides. He loves to run non stop and easily cover 15 to 20 miles. He just won't stop and over heats himself easily, so I usually leave him home if the temperature is over 70°. We recently went on a horse camping trip and I had to take him even though Temps would be in the high 80's. This vest absolutely worked miracles! I'm so so impressed. I soaked it before we left camp it seemed to stay wet for around 20 minutes and then I'd either re wet it or stop by a creek. It kept him cool, happy and running for 4.5 hours. Thank you Ruffwear for making such an awesome well made product!

    Perfect vest for the hot summer days

    My dogs has long shaggy black hair and gets very hot in the summer days. We decided to try out this vest to help cool her down. We poured a bucket of water on her before our walk and I could already tell she was more comfortable (was panting less). When she was a puppy we had the zip up version but now that she’s older I got her this one and we like it much better as her long hair gets caught in the zipper and this one is a buckle and it also covers way more of her body. Definitely recommend for dogs that tend to overheat easily. Also perfect for dogs that like to swim and can get it wet before going on a walk or hike.

    Swamp Cooler Vest

    I bought this vest for my Scottish Deerhound girl. She hates the heat and has a predominantly black coat. I needed something for summer shows to keep her from melting.

    Sighthounds can be very difficult to fit properly and I was thrilled that this coat accommodated her body type beautifully . It is also a very attractive coat and will not look out of place on a show site. I am very happy with it.
