Measurement is determined by your dog’s chest girth, measured around the widest part of the rib cage. Coverage may fit slightly shorter or longer depending on your dog’s proportions. If between sizes, size up for a more relaxed fit, or down for a more snug fit.

When shade is low and the mercury is high, dogs can count on the Swamp Cooler™ Vest to help keep the adventure going. Strategic material choices and design offer solutions for the challenges that hot-weather exploring presents. The light-colored fabric reflects solar radiation, while wetting the vest activates our Swamp Cooler™ Tech for that refreshing, just-stepped-out-of-a-lake feeling also known as evaporative cooling. Just give it a soak, put it on your dog, and go. When it dries, re-soak it to recharge it.

The Swamp Cooler™ Vest includes side-release buckles for easy on/off and a leash portal so it can be worn over a harness – topping off the essential features to make it our highest-coverage cooling option in the Swamp Cooler™ Collection. THREE-LAYER CONSTRUCTION

While each style of Ruffwear apparel is designed for its intended use, this guide generalizes our fits in three ways. The Swamp Cooler Vest is a Relaxed Fit with vest coverage and side-release buckles for easy on/off.

Seems great so far!
While we haven’t had the best very long, it is easy to put on and fits great. Seems like the material will stay cool once wet. We haven’t gotten to soak it yet or see if it is easy to keep clean/wash but hope to soon!

Great buy!
I live in Maui and during the summer I find that Hensley is overheating on any walk after 8am. So, I read the reviews and opted to get one of these cooling jackets. She had worn it on a few walks at various times of day as well as on a boat in peak sun hours. I can tell a real difference in how comfortable she is in these scenarios. A real improvement. You’ll notice that in one image her jacket is super dirty. Hensley is a sandworm and loves to roll in sand and dirt….the jacket does not deter her from this beloved activity, but luckily the sand/dirt cleans off pretty well. Hensley is around 80 pounds and wears a size large.

Does the job!
My dog is a black, long haired big german shepherd. He does not do well in the Connecticut summer heat and humidity and would prefer to stay indoors.
This vest keeps him cool enough that we can continue hikes and walks, especially under the shade of the trees in the woods. I still watch for signs of distress and with this vest he can be outside longer without showing any signs of the beginnng of distress.
Definetly worth the money and peace of mind for your dogs wellbeing.

Works for heavy-coated dogs
I have Siberian huskies & live in Alaska. They spend most of their time outside in the winter, so they grow a very thick coat. When it gets hot before they've blown their winter coat they suffer. The swamp cooler helped even in that scenario, although I would say that the biggest impact was on recovery. I have used the best with 2 of my dogs & have recommended it to other husky owners.

COOL!!
Bought 2 of these for both of my pups. Tried it out on my black lab 1st who gets HOT super quick in or out of the sun if the temps are up. It definitely helped us extend our hike by at least 45 minutes. Between the white color blocking the sun and the water I could feel that her skin underneath was way cooler than the exposed areas. We used it again on a path by the river and I just splashed water on top when she went in for drink breaks. Made it almost 2 hours and 4.5 miles without overheating.
