When shade is low and the mercury is high, dogs can count on the Swamp Cooler to help get them outside. Strategic material choices and design offer solutions for the challenges that warm-weather exploring presents. The light-colored fabric reflects solar radiation and provides shading while wetting the vest activates our Swamp Cooler™ Tech for that refreshing, just-stepped-out-of-a-lake feeling also known as evaporative cooling. Just give it a soak, put it on your dog, and go. When it dries, re-soak it to recharge it.

The Swamp Cooler Vest includes side-release buckles for easy on/off and a leash portal so it can be worn over a harness – topping off the essential features to make it our highest-coverage cooling option in the Swamp Cooler™ Collection.

What's New: We updated the external air mesh for improved abrasion resistance and improved water absorption, and we developed a new construction that retains more water in high-exposure zones on the vest for a longer charge.

While each style of Ruffwear apparel is designed for its intended use, this guide generalizes our fits in three ways. The Swamp Cooler Vest is a Relaxed Fit with vest coverage and side-release buckles for easy on/off.

Formfitting Regular Fit Relaxed Fit
Snug and conforms to the body’s contours. Can be worn standalone or layered under Relaxed apparel. Tailored with a bit of wiggle room. Can be worn standalone or layered under Relaxed apparel.     Great for hot days

    My dog is a thin-coated pointer and has a tough time in extreme temps. She’s had a winter windbreaker all her life but we’ve avoided hot weather walks entirely until now. The swamp cooler vest is great. It keeps her cool on mid-day full sunlight walks even when temps are in the low 90s.

    A lifesaver for dogs who overheat

    The Swamp Cooler has enabled my black husky mix to continue hiking in the heat. When she outgrew size small, we immediately bought a medium. This is kind of a spendy item, but it's essential for her summer quality of life. She starts with it sopping wet. If she doesn't find a Creek on the trail, we always have full water bottles along to "recharge" it. A great invention!

    Excellent cooling vest my dog loves it

    Excellent cooling vest. My dog looks forward to wearing it on these dog days of summer. Easy to hydrate with the hose or a bottle of water. When dog is hot he points at his vest and want me to put it on him.

    Cooling Vest Works Great

    This cooling vest works great. I would soak it before putting it on my Frenchie and then just kept pouring water on it as needed throughout he day. He does not typically do well in the heat, but he did great with this vest on. What a game changer, now he can go with me when he would have typically had to of stayed home.
