Blu Roc loves these. she
Blu Roc loves these. she went on her 1st hike with her girl today during school and she had so much fun and her paws were protected.
Durable but stiff
My dog is very stubborn, and she decided to chew a bit off the end of the Velcro strap while unsupervised for more than two minutes. However the boots are very durable and great for most of our adventures in Florida during both sun and rain. They do require some breaking in as they are fairly stiff when you first get them. I would recommend using coconut oil or a thin layer of elastic vet wrap to hold down any extra fur and prevent chafing while your dog gets used to them. I had an issue with the back boots turning upside down so that the rubber sole is on top of her foot, but I think that was due to me not being sure how tight to make the velcro. Sometimes they also slip a bit down past the dew claw on her front legs but again I think I was leaving them too loose. Overall the quality and durability is great, but every dog is different when it comes to adjusting to a new experience.
Don't trust them for adventurous pups
My dog, extremely seasoned in log crossings. Went for a rather mundane crossing and his hind paws lost traction due to the boots. Causing him to go into some fast water that was slamming him against said log. His lifejacket did its job and I jumped in to save him. Losing a fishing rod in the process. He will only be wearing them in the winter from now on. Until then they remained shelved. Also the chaffing around the dew claw was nearly instantaneous. Self adhearing sport wrap and waterproof bandage tape still wasn't much of a solution.
Great for protecting your pups paws in the desert!
These booties let my dog run next to me while mountain biking without tearing up her pads. However, her back ones kept falling off and sometimes they rub a little too much around the top of the boot. But it's way better than having her bleed from her pads! For general walking around and wanting to protect your dogs feet, they're great.
Had to return
Received a beautiful set of grip trex for my 60# borderxgolden- by the directions I measured her feet 2” across. Her feet are far longer than wide. The 2” bootie would probably fit like... a 30# beagle. I will re-order. Really wishing there was a store nearby where I could try these on her as return postage is about $5.
